Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need an account to bid?
- Yes. Registration is free. You confirm your email address once, and from then on each sign-in asks for a short code we email you.
- How does bidding work?
- By proxy. You enter the most you are willing to pay, and the site bids on your behalf in the smallest steps needed to keep you in front — never more than your maximum.
- What is a participation deposit?
- Some listings ask for a refundable deposit before you may bid. Pay it by invoice or with cryptocurrency; bidding opens as soon as the payment is confirmed, and the deposit comes off what you owe if you win.
- When exactly does an auction end?
- At the time shown on the listing. A bid placed in the closing minutes pushes the end time back a little, so an auction is never decided by whoever clicks last.
- How do I pay, and how much is postage?
- Each listing shows the methods that seller accepts. Postage is worked out from the size of the parcel and where it is going, and is shown before you commit.
- Why are the photographs watermarked?
- The public thumbnails are marked to deter copying. The full-size, unmarked views are shown to signed-in bidders.
- Can I sell here?
- Every account starts as a buyer. Ask us and we will enable listing on your account.
- What languages is the site in?
- Seven. Use the switcher in the header; the language is part of the address, so a page you share opens in the language you shared it in.
